TASI continues fall, shrugs off oil price rise

Riyadh-Mubasher: Tadawul All-Share Index (TASI) extended its downward trend for the second straight day, losing 0.69% or 40.7 points to reach the 5,832.92 level.

Liquidity dropped from SAR 6.37 billion to SAR 5.94 billion, while traded volume fell from 349.3 million shares to 323.6 million shares.

The bourse disregarded a rise in oil prices as Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zangeneh said on Tuesday that Tehran is ready to negotiate with Saudi Arabia over the current conditions in the global oil markets

Brent crude futures rose to $31.32 a barrel, while US crude futures increased to $28.48.

Four sectors rose, topped by energy and multi-investment which gained 0.88% and 0.56% in a row. Meanwhile, 11 sectors fell, led by the agriculture and insurance which shed 1.91% and 1.73%, respectively.

Losers outnumbered gainers 101 to 59.Bupa Arabia was the big drag, losing 4.68%, followed by Southern Cement which moved 3.46% lower. Meanwhile, Jazira Takaful was the top gainer, leaping 9.99%.
