TASI crosses 6,000 level first time in 29 sessions

Riyadh-Mubasher: Tadawul All-Share Index (TASI) edged up 0.76% or 45 points to close Tuesday at the 6,023 level. Thus, the benchmark managed to cross the 6,000 level for the first time since 13 January.  

A total of 347 million shares were traded at a total turnover of SAR 6.3 billion.

The banking sector accounted for 15% (SAR 978 million) of the total turnover, followed by the petrochemical sector which dominated 13% or SAR 847 million.

Rounding up sectors, 13 rose, topped by the transport and media sectors which added 9.8% and 3.2%, respectively. Meanwhile, the telecom and cement sectors declined, falling 0.6% and 0.1% in a row.

As for equities, gainers outnumbered losers 127 to 35. Printing and Packaging was the top advancer for the day, soaring 9.95% to SAR 21.55. Eastern Cement was the big drag, falling 4.47% to SAR 32.30.

Eastern Province Cement said its board on Monday decided to temporarily stop oven No. 1 for the current market conditions and the continued export ban.

SABIC moved 0.5% lower to SAR 72.5 despite paring losses during the session. Meanwhile, Al Rajhi Bank extended its rise for the ninth straight session, inching up 0.3% to SAR 53.95, its highest since 6 January 2016.
