TASI edges down, Nomu plunges at Sunday’s close

Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) closed Sunday in the red after its benchmark Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) slipped 0.06%, or 4.29 points, to 7,226.32 points.

TASI’s trading volume stood at 264.21 million shares on Sunday, against 242.9 million shares on Thursday, while liquidity increased to SAR 4.86 billion, from SAR 4.76 billion.

The real estate management and development, media, food and staples retailing, and telecommunications services sectors decreased 2.5%, 1%, 0.6%, and 0.4%, respectively.

On the other hand, the pharmaceuticals sector inched up 0.5%, followed by capital goods with 0.5%, banks with 0.4%, and materials with 0.3%.

Makkah Construction and Development’s stock tumbled 6.6%, whereas Methanol Chemicals Company’s (Chemanol) stock gained 4.6%.

Dar Al Arkan Real Estate Development’s stock headed the bourse in terms of traded volume after 106.9 million shares were exchanged, generating SAR 1.52 billion, to close Sunday at SAR 14.38.

In the meantime, the main index of the Nomu-Parallel Market, NOMU, slumped 1.6%, or 49.28 points, to 3,140.01 points.

Nomu’s trading volume amounted to 67,870 shares on Sunday, against 210,370 shares on Thursday, while liquidity retreated to SAR 1.35 million, from SAR 5.12 million.

The stocks of Thob Al-Aseel Company and Al-Omran Industrial Trading declined 1.7% and 0.6%, respectively, whereas Development Works Food’s stock grew 2.3%.

Arab Sea Information System topped Nomu in terms of traded volume after 32,700 shares were exchanged, with a turnover of SAR 400,470.
