Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Stock Exchange’s Tadawul All-Share Index (TASI) declined by 142.64 points, or 1.7%, to reach 8,246.59 points in January 2020.
Market capitalisation went down to SAR 8.75 trillion ($2.33 trillion) over the month, compared to SAR 9.03 trillion ($2.41 trillion) in the previous month.
A group of nine sectors declined, including telecom which dropped 6.4%, while 12 sectors grew, led by food retailing which soared 9.28%.
Meanwhile, the energy, materials, and banking sectors levelled down by 3.6%, 2.3%, and 1.8%, respectively.
Trading volume shrank to 3.7 billion shares and liquidity plummeted to SAR 84.38 billion.
Weekly decline
TASI shed 139.76 points, or 1.67%, to 8,246.59 points during the week ended 30 January.
A number of 17 sectors decreased, led by materials which fell 3.16%, while four sectors grew, topped by REITs which added 1.7%.
Trading volume amounted to 772.3 million shares and the turnover hit SAR 17.95 billion.
