TASI gains SAR 33bn; Nomu falls 7.5% in August

Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) ended August’s trading activities in the green zone after its main Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) surged 2.3% or 164.5 points throughout the month to reach 7,258.6 points.

TASI’s market capitalisation increased by 1.97% or SAR 33 billion to SAR 1.716 trillion by the end of August.

On a monthly basis, the average of TASI’s trading value levelled up 4.2% to SAR 2.866 billion ($764 million), from SAR 2.750 billion ($733 million) in July.

Traded volume grew 2.9% to reach 136 million shares in August, compared to 132 million shares in the month before.

The capital goods, consumer services, banks, and materials sectors went up 8.3%, 5.2%, 4.8%, and 1.2%, respectively.

On the other hand, the media sector retreated 8.7%, and the telecommunication services inched down 0.08%.

The benchmark index (NOMU) of the Nomu-Parallel Market tumbled 7.5% or 282 points, reaching 3,478.17 points.

Nomu’s trading volume stood at 2.3 million shares in August, against 4.1 million shares in the month before, while liquidity slid to SAR 54.6 million from SAR 109.7 million.
