TASI retreats, Nomu loses 147 pts in week

Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) resumed its losses in the week ended Thursday, 6 July after the benchmark Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) dropped 3% or 221.73 points to level of 7,203.99 points, compared to 7,425.72 points in the previous week.

Meanwhile, the Nomu parallel market index continued its decline for the third week in a row, falling 3.85% or 174 points to 3,668.35 points.

Tadawul’s market capitalisation shrank by SAR 55.84 billion to SAR 1.7 trillion ($455.51 billion), from SAR 1.76 trillion ($470.4 billion) in the week that preceded the Eid Al Fitr holidays.

Market sectors’ performance included declines in 12 sectors led by food & beverages, which dropped by 10.53%, followed by the health care sector with 4.89%. 

Meanwhile, the media sector topped eight gainers, surging by 20.8%.

The main sectors’ performance closed in the red zone as banking and telecommunications retreated by 4.62% and 2.67%, respectively.

Trading values on TASI fell 4.1% to SAR 14.4 billion ($4.1 billion) in the week ended Thursday, 6 July, from SAR 26.1 billion ($6.96 billion) in the previous week, while trading volumes decreased to 715.35 million shares versus 1.05 billion shares, registering a fall of 31.8%.
