TASI rises 3.58% in June; market cap gains SAR 81bn

Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Stock Exchange’s (Tadawul) benchmark Tadawul All-Share Index (TASI) grew by 305.28 points, or 3.58%, to 8,821.76 points in June.

TASI’s traded value declined by 32% to SAR 74.796 billion ($20 billion) last month, compared to SAR 109.967 billion ($29.28 billion) in May.

Market capitalisation surged by SAR 81 billion ($21.56 billion) to SAR 2.081 trillion ($554 billion) in June from SAR 2 trillion ($532 billion) in the prior month.

Meanwhile, the market’s trading volume plunged by 23.71% month-on-month to 2.68 billion shares, compared to 3.525 billion shares in May.

The utilities sector led the risers and added 13.11%, while the telecommunications, basic materials, and banking sectors advanced by 2.38%, 1.71%, and 0.19%, respectively.

On the other hand, the media, food retailing, and luxury goods sectors retreated during June.
