TASI rises Thursday for 5th session despite Aramco’s decline

Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) has kept its perfect record this week and rose on Thursday for the fifth consecutive session, supported by increased liquidity.

The Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) added 0.46% or 37.96 points, and closed at 8,291.39 points, its highest level since last August.

Traded values surged to SAR 8 billion, up from SAT 6.56 billion on Wednesday, with volumes increasing to 294 million shares, compared with 243.3 million traded shares yesterday.

The banks sector gained 1.31%, while telecom and materials levelled up by 1.2% and 0.54%, respectively, while only market sector indices ended the session in the red zone, with energy losing 2.86%.

Losses by the energy sector came on the back of the third decline in a row for Aramco that dropped 3.27% and ended the week at SAR 35.50.

Nevertheless, Saudi Aramco was the most actively traded stock with 89.3 million shares, and accounted for 40% of the total turnovers with SAR 3.2 billion.

On the other hand, Metlife led the session’s gainers and surged by 9.98% to close at SAR 20.5.

Meanwhile, the Nomu Parallel Market jumped by 5.28% and closed at 6,974.56 points.
