TASI surges 72 pts, Nomu drops Wednesday

Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) ended Wednesday up after its benchmark Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) jumped 0.9% or 71.90 points to 7,871.67 points, registering its highest liquidity ratios in 17 sessions or since 12 March.

TASI’s trading volume reached 249.54 million shares on Wednesday, against 224.09 million on Tuesday, while traded value increased to SAR 5.38 billion, from SAR 4.67 billion.

The insurance, retailing, telecommunication services, banks, and materials sectors went up 3.5%, 3.3%, 1.5%, 1%, and 0.5%, respectively.

On the negative side, the food and staples retailing and real estate investment traded funds (REITs) sectors edged down 0.4% each.

Bupa Arabia for Cooperative Insurance’s stock topped TASI’s gainers with 7.9%, whereas Saudi Cable Co.’s stock was the worst performer after dropping 2.5%.

Dar Al Arkan Real Estate Development’s stock, which closed at SAR 13.48, took over the bourse’s activities after 74.65 million shares were exchanged, with a turnover of SAR 1 billion.

In the meantime, the main index of the Nomu-Parallel Market, NOMU, tumbled 0.5% or 15.74 points, to finish at 2,879.15 points.

Nomu’s traded volume stood at 63,400 shares on Wednesday, down from 66,840 on Tuesday, while trading value fell to SAR 2.06 million, from SAR 2.86 million.

Al-Samaani Factory for Metal Industries’ stock led losers with 2.8%, whereas the stock of Al-Kathiri Holding Company rose 6.3%.

Thob Al-Aseel Company’s stock saw trading of 21,180 shares, generating SAR 1.24 billion in a liquidity.
