Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) ended Tuesday’s trading session in gains, registering its eighth consecutive rise.
The Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) closed at 8,419.84 points, with marginal gains of 0.04% or 3.45 points.
Traded volumes grew to 222.34 million shares, up from 216.69 million shares on Monday, while values decreased to SAR 4.69 billion, down from SAR 5.25 billion yesterday.
As for the major market sectors, the materials index edged up by 0.07%, while media and entertainment was the top gainer and surged by 6.39%.
On the other hand, energy and banks declined by 0.27% and 0.03%, as Aramco lost 0.56%.
Saudi Paper Manufacturing led the rising stocks and surged 9.88%, while Metlife AIG ANB was the biggest loser and dropped 2.31%.
Saudi Aramco was the most actively traded stock with 18.3 million shares and a total turnover of SAR 650.21 million.
Economic analyst Saad Al Thaqfaan told Mubasher that the decline of Aramco did not impact the market, considering the stock saw a relatively decreased trade compared to the previous session. Petrochemicals were among the main players today, due to news about cash dividends.
Petrochemical and cement companies are expected by the analyst to achieve the highest level during the fourth quarter (Q4) of the year.
