Tadawul gains 70 pts at Sunday close

Riyadh – Mubasher: The main index of the Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) went up 1.01% or 69.75 points to close at 6,968.75 points on Sunday.

Traded value rose to SAR 3.42 billion ($911.5 million) on Sunday compared to SAR 3.15 billion ($838.7 million) on Thursday, while traded volume increased to 207.28 million shares compared to 185.38 million.

The telecom and consumer durables sectors were the only losers and slipped 0.31% and 0.32%, respectively.

The retailing sector topped gainers and hiked 6.2%, backed by SACO and Jarir Marketing which surged 9.05% to SAR 17.30 and 8.40% to SAR 137.25, respectively.

The material sector inched up 0.79%, after SABIC and SAFCO levelled up 0.71% to SAR 97.75 and 0.44% to SAR 68.25, respectively.

Moreover, the banks sector gained 0.36% as the National Commercial Bank (NCB) advanced 0.81% to SAR 38.60, while Al Rajhi Bank shed 0.6% to SAR 63.25.

Chubb Arabia Cooperative Insurance led the best performers and jumped 9.96% to SAR 45.50, while Saudi Paper Manufacturing led the 28 losing shares and declined 9.88% to SAR 8.30.

Dar Al Arkan was the most active in terms of traded value and volume with 65.83 million shares exchanged at a value of SAR 403.96 million. The stock increased 4.52% to SAR 6.25.
