Tadawul main index up 1.27% in a week

Riyadh – Mubasher: The Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) ended the second week of August in green, although the liquidity level was the lowest since 2011.

The main index rose 1.27% or 79.17 points to stand at 6,325.62 points, compared to 6,246.45 points last week.

Market capitalisation levelled up to AED 1.466 trillion ($361 billion) from AED 1.45 trillion ($385.6 billion) in the previous week, gaining AED 19.87 billion ($5.3 billion).

Turnover retreated 15.87% to SAR 15.16 billion ($4.04 billion) in the week ending on 11 August from SAR 18 billion ($4.8 billion) last week.

Traded volume also fell 15.55% to 856.72 million shares compared to 1.03 billion shares in the previous week.

The petrochemical sector topped 13 gaining sectors rising 4%, backed by Saudi Basic Industries Corp.’s (SABIC) and Saudi Arabian Fertilisers Company’s (SAFCO) which increased 3.73% and 2.38% to SAR 83.62 and SAR 63.99, respectively.

The banks sector gained 0.96%, backed by Al Rajhi Bank which added 0.16% to SAR 57.53, while the National Commercial Bank (NCB) fell 0.86% to SAR 37.

The telecommunication sector gained 1.2%, supported by Mobily and Saudi Mobile Telecommunications Co. (Zain KSA) which increased 2.87% and 2.64% to SAR 24.05 and SAR 6.99, respectively.

Saudi Telecom Company (STC) shed 0.85% to SAR 59.76.

On the other hand, the real estate development sector fell 1.57%, on the back of Jabal Omar Development Company and Emaar The Economic City which decreased 2.97% and 1.88%, respectively.

The insurance sector also shed 0.7%, affected by the Company for Cooperative Insurance’s (Tawuniya) which lost 2.03%.

Arabian Pipes Co. topped the gaining shares rising 14.15% to SAR 16.46, while Tabuk Agricultural Development led the losing shares levelling down 17.12% to SAR 12.10.

SABIC achieved the highest turnover in a week by SAR 2.8 billion, representing 18.5% of total turnover.

Al Inma Bank was the top in terms of traded volume trading 206 million shares. The stock went up 1.15% to SAR 13.17.
