Tadawul's TASI climbs 1.4% as SAMA maintains riyal-dollar peg

Riyadh-Mubasher: Tadawul All-Share Index (TASI) snapped a five-day losing run, jumping 1.4% or 86.05 points to reach the 6,176.91 level.

Turnover soared more than 13% to SAR 5.8 billion, after 286.2 million shares were exchanged in 130,000 transactions.

Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA), the kingdom’s central bank, said on Monday that it will continue pegging the riyal to the US dollar despite recent fluctuations in the forwards market and concerns about the local economy.

The bourse got a boost from leading sectors, topped by the petrochemical sector which jumped 3.16%. The real estate development had the second-best showing, rising 2.4%.

The media and retail declined 2.8% and 1.8%, respectively.

Gainers outnumbered losers 137 to 28. Tawuniya was the biggest drag, plunging 9.69% to SAR 60.75. Meanwhile, Emaar EC was the best performer of the day, rocketing 9.80% to SAR 11.65.
