Tadweer opens solar power plant's second phase at Al Dhafra waste recycling facility

UAE - Mubasher: Abu Dhabi Waste Management Centre (Tadweer) has inaugurated the second phase of the solar power plant project at the Construction and Demolition Waste Recycling Facility in Al Dhafra in Abu Dhabi, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).

The facility is the first of its kind in the world to be powered by 90% solar energy.

The completion of the second phase has increased the facility's solar energy utilisation by raising the plant's capacity by 350 kilowatts per hour to 600 kilowatts.

Tadweer installed 1,656 solar cells covering 11,000 square metres to produce a total of 600 kilowatts, saving a diesel consumption of up to 480,000 litres on a monthly basis.

The project is in line with the UAE Green Agenda Programmes 2015-2030 and the National Climate Change Plan of the UAE 2017-2050.
