Tadwul bounces back with marginal gains this week

Riyadh - Mubasher: The Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadwul) saw some marginal gains in the first week of October.

The main index, Tadawul All Shares Index (TASI) went up by 0.14% or 7.92 points, closing at the level of 5,631.26 points, up from its closing point by the end of last week at 5,623.34 points.

On the first day of the week Tadwul saw its lowest level in 3 years as it lost 3%, and after another session in decline, it comeback and rose in three consecutive sessions.

The market cap increased by SAR 13.72 billion ($3.66 billion), closing at SAR 1.34 trillion ($357 billion).

The petrochemicals sector led the gainer as it added 3.52% on the back of SABIC which grew by 4.36%.

Meanwhile, the banks levelled up by 0.59%, as Al Rajhi and al Ahli gained 0.39% and 6.64%, closing at SAR 51.8 and SAR 35.18 per share, respectively.

Telecom went up 0.34% as Mobily and Zain surged 4.97% and 11% respectively, while STC lost 2.68%.

On the other hand, media and publishing was the biggest losing sector as it dropped 7.8% on the back of Research and Marketing, and Printing and Packaging which lost 12.12% and 2.13% respectively.

The cement sector declined by 4.73% as all of its stocks decreased led by Yanbu and Yamama with 9.98% and 9.19% respectively, except for Tabuk which rose 2.65%.

Traded values declined 9.6% to SAR 15.2 billion ($4.05 billion) compared to SAR 16.8 billion ($4.98 billion), while traded volume increased by 4.8% to 1.11 billion shares from 1.06 million shares in the week before.

Buruj Insurance led the gainers and surged 24.57%, while AlHokair led the decliners and dropped 25.73%.

Al Inma Bank was the most active in traded volumes with 222.2 million shares, with a turnover of SAR 2.49 million.
