Dubai – Mubasher: The UAE Minister of Infrastructure Development Abdulla Al Nuaimi said that technical difficulties caused the delay of the regional rail network establishment from 2018 to 2021.
The absence of coordination between institutions and organisations in some countries was the reason behind the delay of the project for three years, the minister told reporters on the sidelines of a press conference at the ministry's headquarter in Dubai.
The passenger and cargo network stretches along 2,100 kilometres through all six Gulf states from Kuwait to Oman.
Al Nuaimi added that the total current and planned investments of the railway exceed $240 billion in the GCC, while they amount to $30 billion in the UAE and are expected to increase to $42 billion in the next ten years.
