Cairo – Mubasher: Telecom Egypt (TE) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with China-based Huawei to coordinate in cloud computing.
Upon the MoU, the Chinese firm will introduce cloud computing in TE’s data centres for the first time in Africa and the Middle East, Egypt’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology said in a statement.
The ministry noted that the agreement will only target non-government services.
In the same vein, TE, Egypt's largest internet provider, has also signed two MoUs with Ericsson to develop and enhance its cloud network.
This agreement will pave the way for TE to provide 5G services and cooperate in upgrading cloud communications services, the ministry said in a separate statement.
Moreover, TE has signed another agreement with the US-based Cisco Systems to develop its fixed internet capabilities, Shorouk News reported, citing the Egyptian firm’s CEO Adel Hamed.

TE, the state's landline monopoly, has signed these deals on the sidelines of the 2019 Mobile World Congress being held in Barcelona, Spain.
