Telecom firms drag down QSE early Monday

Mubasher: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) started Monday’s trading session in red territory, pressured by the drop of three sectors.

By 10:00 am Qatar time, the general index went down 0.52% to 9,580.64 points, falling 49.75 points.

Turnover amounted to QAR 18.6 million after 686,600 shares were exchanged through 468 transactions.

The telecommunication sector topped the QSE’s losers falling 3.66% as Ooredoo and Vodafone Qatar declined 5.80% and 0.54%, respectively.

Similarly, the industrial sector went down 0.57%, dragged by Industries Qatar’s 0.88% drop, while the banking sector levelled down 0.11% as Masraf Al Rayan decreased by 0.74%.

On the other hand, the real estate sector headed the bourse’s risers adding 0.93% as Ezdan Holding Group and Mazaya Qatar Real Estate Development grew 1.72% and 0.99%.

Ooredoo’s stock, which retreated 0.56%, led the market in terms of trading volume with 80,900 shares, generating QAR 4.6 million in liquidity.
