Telecom stocks push QSE higher at close

Doha – Mubasher: The main index of the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) rose at Wednesday’s close by 0.3% or 31.28 points to the level of 10,336.05 points.

Trading volume increased to 10.6 million shares from 7 million shares exchanged on Tuesday, turnover also rose to QAR 245.15 million from QAR 154.8 million.

Widam Food topped gainers with a growth of 3.08%, while Doha Insurance led declines with a 3.41% fall.

The telecom sector advanced 1.4% due to an increase of 1.7% in Ooredoo, while Vodafone Qatar slid 0.11%.

The transportation sector leapt 0.97%, backed by a rise of 2% in Milaha, and the industrial sector ascended 0.51% as Qatar Electricity and Water grew 1.56% and Qatari Investors leapt 1.39%.

On the flipside, the real estate sector fell 0.09% and the banking sector declined 0.04%.

The highest trading activity was on Mazaya Qatar as 3.33 million shares were exchanged at QAR 48.5 million.
