Telecoms, banks lead ADX higher in week

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) closed the week ended Thursday, 21 December in the green, backed by the telecoms and banks stocks.

The general index grew 0.23% or 9.93 points to 4,349.15 points.

Trading activities varied this week with turnover rising to AED 705.31 million from AED 582.32 million in the previous week, while traded volume was stable at 325.82 million.

The telecom sector and its stock Etisalat gained 0.88% each, while the banks sector increased 0.44% after First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) gained 0.49%, whereas Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) trimmed the sector’s rise after falling 1.46%.

On the flip side, the energy sector retreated 5.33% after ADNOC Distribution and Dana Gas lost 1.89% and 4.17%, respectively.

Similarly, the real estate sector shed 1.57% after Aldar Properties declined 1.8%, whereas Eshraq Properties added 1.45%.
