Telecoms, energy boost ADX at close Thursday

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange’s (ADX) main index closed Thursday in the green after growing 0.66%, or 29.04 points, to 4,398.44 points for the second session in a row, encouraged by the telecommunications and energy sectors.

The ADX’s trading volume surged to 254.153 million shares on Thursday against 99.054 million shares on Wednesday, while traded value grew to AED 265.761 million versus AED 252.544 million in the previous session.

The telecommunications sector and its stock Etisalat rose 2.64% each.

Similarly, the energy sector levelled up 1.92% led by Dana Gas’ stock, which increased 2.53%.

On the flipside, the real estate sector inched down 0.15% due to Eshraq Properties’ 1.39% down.

The consumer staples sector topped the bourse’s decliners, falling 2.50% on the back of Agthia’s and International Holding Co’s stocks, which dropped 3.42% and 1.40%, respectively.

United Arab Bank’s (UAB) stock topped the gainers adding 10.26%, while Sharjah Group’s stock topped the losers, sliding 8%.

Dana Gas’ stock was the most active in terms of trading value with AED 157.57 million through trading 196.98 million shares.
