Telecoms, energy weigh on ADX early Tuesday

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) commenced Tuesday’s trading session on a low note, pressured by the telecommunications and energy sectors.

The general index declined 0.77%, shedding 34.96 points and reaching 4,509.61 points by 11:00 am UAE time.

The telecoms sector and its stock Etisalat each dropped 2.53%, while the energy sector retreated 1.86% after Abu Dhabi National Energy Co (TAQA) plunged 7.4%.

On the other hand, the real estate sector increased 1.35% after Eshraq Properties and Aldar gained 1.75% and 1.38%, respectively.

Turnover reached AED 39.83 million after 19.59 million shares were traded through 389 transactions.

Earlier on Tuesday, analysts had told Mubasher that blue chips on the UAE’s two bourses have reached attractive price levels, which will likely result in buying by foreign portfolios.
