Ten brokerage firms hold 74% of DFM’s turnover in 2019

Dubai – Mubasher: Ten brokerage firms have accounted for around 73.8% of the Dubai Financial Market’s (DFM) trading value during 2019, according to annual data. 

Top firms have made up AED 78.44 billion out of a total trading value of AED 106.2 billion, which fell by 11% from AED 119.2 billion in 2018.

By the end of 2019, EFG Hermes UAE topped the list with AED 17.78 billion, representing 16.75% of the market’s total trading value, followed by Arqaam Securities, which held AED 10.53 billion, representing 9.92%.

Moreover, BH Mubasher Financial Services ranked the third with a share amounting to AED 8.64 billion or 8.13% of the traded value.

The remaining top ten companies include ADIB Securities, SHUAA Securities, Al Ramz Capital, FAB Securities, Emirates NBD Securities, Menacorp Financial Services, and SICO Financial Brokerage. 

In the meantime, DFM saw higher market gains in 2019; as the general index rose by 9.29% to settle at the level of 2,764.86 points, adding 235.11 points and registering its highest level since 2016.

In contrast, the bourse’s turnover retreated by 8.5% to stand at AED 45.51 billion ($12.39 billion) in 2019 when compared to AED 49.75 billion ($13.54 billion) in 2018.
