Tesla cars introduced to Egypt from EGP 2.1m

Cairo - Mubasher: The world’s most famous electric vehicle will soon be driven around the streets of Cairo, after Revolta Egypt announced that it has successfully reached a customs release for the first patch of Tesla cars to ever enter the Egyptian market.

The delay in the customs procedures resulted from authorities assuring proper inquiries from the country of origin, the United States, in order to identify prices, according to the company’s CEO Mohamed Badawy, noting that the cars are totally exempted from custom tariffs.

The first car dealership is expected to open by next June, with the company targeting to sell 1,000 units by the end of the year, Badawy told Almal.

Prices for Model S goes from EGP 2.149 to 3.625 million, while Model X is available at EGP 2.625 to 3.825 million, according to the company’s website.

The company is allowing customers to book their cars with EGP 250,000 down-payment.

Egypt recently inaugurated its first electric vehicle charging station, taking the first step towards establishing the infrastructure for a complete electric vehicle charging network that will be the first in the region.
