Three GCC countries to ink financial support to Jordan

Mubasher: The finance ministers of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and the UAE will sign an agreement to financially support Jordan in Amman on Thursday.

Upon the agreement, the three Gulf nations will provide credit guarantees and grants to Jordan, state-run Kuwait News Agency reported.

Moreover, the Jordanian central bank will be offered deposits by the aforementioned GCC countries, the agency said.

In June, the three countries pledged $2.5 billion in aid to Jordan following austerity measures that sparked massive protests in the Arab country.

The aid would cover a five-year annual budget support to Jordan, a deposit in its central bank, guarantees to the World Bank, and development projects, the Saudi Press Agency previously revealed.
