UAE – Mubasher: Thuraya Telecommunications Company, a subsidiary of Al Yah Satellite Communications Company (Yahsat), has entered into a service partner agreement with Rockville Technologies, a system integrator and provider in Pakistan, to expand the availability of Thuraya’s products and services across the Pakistani market.
The partnership highlights Thuraya’s efforts to spur growth in key sectors, including M2M, Internet of Things (IoT), and maritime. It will further enable it to cater to a diversified customer base through bespoke satellite communication solutions, according to a press release on Thursday.
Founded in 2002 in Islamabad, Rockville has offices across Kuwait, UAE, KSA, Bulgaria, Turkey, and Sri Lanka.
Commenting on the deal, Thuraya’s chief commercial officer (CCO), Shawkat Ahmed, said, “Pakistan is opening up to Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) with a number of important projects earmarked for the next 5 years in maritime, energy, transportation, tourism, and logistics sectors.”
“Offering uniform connectivity across 160 countries, Thuraya is best positioned to tap into this fast-growing market,” he added.
Moreover, Rockville’s founder and CEO, Abrar Ali Khan, remarked, “There is a dire need of satellite as well as hybrid (GSM-Satellite) monitoring and tracking based solutions in the region considering the scale of mega projects such as CPEC."
She concluded that the two entities will manage to drive innovation within the Pakistani market.
