Abu Dhabi - Mubasher: The UAE government is expecting tourism to contribute 4.9% to the national gross domestic product (GDP) this year.
The sector accounted for around 11.3% of the Emirati GDP in 2017, equivalent to AED 154.1 billion, according to Mohammed Khamis Al Muhairi, the under-secretary of the UAE Ministry of Economy.
It is worth noting that travelers spending around the world amounted to $1.49 trillion, which represents 6.5% of the total global exports, dominating 9.9% of the international workforce with 313.2 million work opportunities, Al Muhairi added.
