Tourists visiting Egypt drop 60%

Cairo - Mubasher: The number of tourists visiting Egypt in June declined 59.9%, according to a report by the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS) issued on Thursday.

Total number of tourists from around the world reached 328,000 compared to 820,000 in June 2015.

Russian tourist numbers dropped the most by 49.8%, followed by the UK declining 11.9%, then Germany 8.6% and Poland 5.2%.

The report indicated that Western Europe had the biggest share of tourists by 30.6%, with Germany sending 35.9% of total visitors.

In May, Egypt recorded a 51.7% decline in number of tourists, at 431,800 visitors, compared to 894,600 in May 2015.
