Cairo – Mubasher: Traffic collisions in Egypt fell by 24.6% year-on-year in 2017 due to the national road network project.
The number of traffic collisions stood at 11,000 accidents last year, versus 14,700 collisions in 2016, data by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) showed on Wednesday.
This resulted in 3,747 deaths, 13,990 casualties, and 17,200 damaged vehicles, compared to 5,343 deaths and 18,640 casualties a year earlier, the state-run statistics agency noted.
Meanwhile, train wrecks surged by 43.6% to 1,793 crashes in 2017, from 1,249 crashes a year earlier.
