Traffic collisions in Egypt fall 17.8% in H1 - CAPMAS

Cairo – Mubasher: Traffic collisions in Egypt declined by 17.8% year-on-year in the first half of 2017, according to data by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).

The number of traffic collisions stood at 5,836 accidents in H1-17, compare to 7,101 collisions in H1-16, the CAPMAS highlighted in a statement on Sunday.

This resulted in 1,929 deaths, 7,217 casualties, and 9,006 damaged vehicles in H1-17, compared to 2,636 deaths and 8,865 casualties H1-16.

Accidents on highways reached 805 accidents, making up 13.8% of total collisions in H1-17.

Meanwhile, train wrecks surged 34.4% to 793 crashes in H1-17, up from 590 crashes in H1-16.
