TransGlobe Energy begins drilling new wells in Egypt’s Western Desert

Cairo – Mubasher: TransGlobe Energy Corporation started drilling activities for oil exploration at SGZ 6X well in its South Ghazalat concession in Egypt’s Western Desert.

The Canada-based company has successfully begun production from two wells in West Bakr in the Eastern Desert, with output of nearly 800 barrels per day (bpd) from each well which exceeded initial projections, according to a statement.

There is another well in the area that produces around 80 bpd, TransGlobe noted, pointing out that it is planning to drill a new  well in the region in November.

In 2017, TransGlobe Energy revealed it was planning to develop new oil fields in Egypt’s Eastern Desert, along with an oil field in the Western Desert.
