Transport, industrials drag QSE down at Thursday’s close

Doha – Mubasher: The main index of the Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) fell 0.17% or 17.12 points to close at 9,938.28 points on Thursday.

Five sectors decreased, led by transportation with 1.34% after Qatar Gas Transport Company Ltd (Nakilat), Gulf Warehousing, and Qatar Navigation (Milaha) dropped 1.68%, 1.54%, and 0.74%, respectively.

The industrials sector declined 0.87% as Gulf International Services shed 2.16%, followed by Qatari Investors Group with 1.75%, Industries Qatar with 1.08%, and Qatar Electricity and Water Company (QEWC) with 0.97%.

The services sector tumbled 0.81% after Medicare Group, Ezdan Holding Group, and Widam Food levelled down 3.12%, 2.24%, and 1.9%, respectively.

On the other hand, the telecoms sector rose 0.88% as Ooredoo gained 1.09%.

The financial sector increased 0.48% after Qatar National Bank (QNB) and the Commercial Bank of Qatar (CBQ) grew 1.45% and 0.34%, respectively.

Traded volume dropped to 8.26 million shares on Thursday from 11.66 million shares on Wednesday, while liquidity declined to QAR 231.61 million against QAR 307.06 million in the previous session.

Vodafone Qatar’s stock led in terms of traded volume with 2.09 million shares traded, while Industries Qatar led in terms of trading value with a liquidity of QAR 28.29 million.

Earlier on Thursday, the benchmark index lost 0.54% reaching 9,901.95 points.
