Tunisian economy to grow 3% in 2018 - IMF

Mubasher: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is expecting the Tunisian economy to grow by 2.3% by the end of 2017.

The IMF said in a recent report that the Tunisian economy has the ability to achieve a growth rate of 3% in 2018, with a slight improvement in the trade balance.

The Tunisian trade balance is expected to surpass its negative performance this year, as deficit reached 8.7%, the IMF expects, noting that trade deficit is estimated to reach 8.4% next year.

Unemployment rate in Tunisia is expected to reach 17% by the end of this year, only to decline in 12% in 2018, compared to 14% in 2016, the report indicated.

Inflation rate is expected to settle near 4.5% by the end of 2017, and to amount to 4.4% in the upcoming year, said the IMF in its most recent report on the Tunisian economy.
