Riyadh – Mubasher: Saudi Arabia and the UAE on Monday announced the allocation of $200 million as part of Imdaad initiative for urgent humanitarian assistance to the people of Yemen.
The financial aid included $140 million to the World Food Programme (WFP) to meet the food needs, King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) said on Twitter.
In addition, an amount of $40 million was allocated to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) to address sanitation issues and malnutrition, along with earmarking $20 million to the World Health Organization (WHO) to fight cholera and secure intravenous feeding fluids.
Total financial contributions provided by the coalition countries, led by Saudi Arabia and the UAE, to support Yemen during the last four years exceeded $18 billion, KSrelief’s supervisor general, Abdullah Al Rabeeah, said.
