Mubasher: Egypt’s first international defence exhibition has witnessed the participation of the UAE’s National Pavilion, comprising members and officials from Tawazun Economic Council and the Emirates Defence Companies Council (EDCC).
The International Defence Exhibition 2018 (IDEX 2018) kicked off in Cairo on Monday, 3 December and would end on Wednesday, 5 December.
IDEX 2018 is a major opportunity for regional defence firms to boost their services to be in line their global competitors, said EDCC’s acting general manager Sultan Abdullah Al Samahi, according to a statement.
“Tawazun goal of enabling the development of the industrial defence and security sector which in turn, contributes to the development of a suitable economy for the UAE,” Al Samahi added.
The statement showed that the Emirati National Pavilion is welcoming around 17 local firms specialised in the security, technology, and defence industries, including ADASI, Barij Munitions, Barij Dynamics, Advanced Pyrotechnics (ATP) AMROC, Abu Dhabi Aviation, and others.
Launched by Tawazun Economic Council, EDCC aims to support domestic strategic partners, through cooperating with the Ministry of Defence and the General Command of the Armed Forces.
Investments in the security and defence sector are part of EDCC’s strategy to raise and diversify the GCC nations’ economy, the statement said.
