UAE, China trade exchange crosses $49bn in 9M despite pandemic – Chinese Official

UAE – Mubasher: The bilateral trade between the UAE and China has exceeded $49 billion in the first nine months (9M) of 2021, rising by 38.1% compared to 9M-20, state-run news agency WAM cited the Chinese Ambassador to the UAE, Ni Jian.

The trade exchange between the two countries has overcome negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic for almost two years in a row.

China’s top official elaborated that the bilateral trade with the UAE was almost the same in 9M-20 when compared to 9M-19.

Jian stated: "The UAE is the largest investment destination of China in the Arab world.”

He said: “In 2020, Chinese non-financial direct investment flows to the UAE in 2020 was valued at $570 million, accounting for more than 47% of the total Chinese investment in the Arab world.”

The UAE is considered China's largest export destination, besides being the second largest trading partner in the Arab region, Jian added.

He noted that over 6,000 Chinese companies have developed business in the UAE in the fields of energy, ports, infrastructure, communications, finance, and others.
