UAE, Egypt among best states in developing renewable energy – WB

Mubasher: Three countries in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region have been listed among the best nations developing renewable energy in 2018, a recent report released by the World Bank (WB).

Egypt, Tunisia, and the UAE have made remarkable progress in developing renewable energy during the past seven years, according to the WB’s report cited by CNN Arabic.

The three Arab countries witnessed incentives provided to the private sector, being encouraged to invest in renewable energy. The countries have also developed a legal framework which can facilitate the private sector’s projects in the field of renewable energy.

“Egypt rose from 10 points to 68 points by 2018 on the World Bank’s Regulatory Indicators for Sustainable Energy (RISE). This has made it among the top 36 countries around the world,” the report noted.

Jordan was also included in the WB’s report on renewable energy, with a “notable” progress in developing renewable energy from 2010 to 2017, recording 63 points.
