UAE, KSA eye joint strategic partnerships – Al Faleh

Riyadh – Mubasher: The UAE and Saudi Arabia have agreed to examine joint strategic partnerships during a "joint retreat" held in Riyadh, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported on Thursday, citing Saudi minister of energy, industry and mineral resources Khalid Al Faleh as saying.

"This blessed journey will achieve its goals," Al Faleh told WAM in a statement during the second Joint UAE-Saudi Al Azm Retreat, named after the Arabic word for determination.

Over 200 government officials and experts from various government and private organisations from the UAE and Saudi Arabia took part in the retreat to discuss means of driving growth in the industrial and energy sectors.

"Al Faleh praised the UAE for making success in the energy sector, and renewables projects in particular, noting that through this significant progress, the UAE has set a global model in the sector," WAM reported.

The retreat sessions aim to benefit from ongoing cooperation between the two countries in the manufacturing and petrochemical industries, the Saudi minister stated.

He indicated other sectors for potential cooperation including the auto, pharmaceutical, aluminum and aviation industries, WAM reported.

Through the integration, consultation and searching for common opportunities, Saudi Arabia and UAE "can maximize" this value in these sectors, Al Faleh added.
