UAE – Mubasher: The UAE Ministry of Economy has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) to bolster the utilisation of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in intellectual property titles, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.
The MoU was signed by the Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Economy for Economic Affairs Mohammed Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al Shehhi and KIPO Commissioner Park Wonjoo, according to the state-run news agency.
The agreement was ink in Geneva on the sidelines of the 59th Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO).
Al Shehhi highlighted that intellectual property, such as patents, trademarks, industrial designs, still plays a vital role in advancing the long-term development process as it encourages creativity and innovation.
The UAE is keen to use AI technologies to build its future economy, he noted, pointing out that the country has become a pioneer in this field.
This MoU will help the UAE to strengthen its position in intellectual property and innovation, Al Shehhi stressed.
