Dubai - Mubasher: Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau has wrapped up a three-day visit to the UAE in a bid to foray into new markets and raise tourists’ numbers from the GCC nation to Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau’s marketing director Madubhani Perera led a delegation from Sri Lanka’s tourism and hospitality sector that met with officials from the UAE to discuss mutual collaboration, according to Saudi Gazette.
“The mission has been a resounding success, with excellent attendance with the right partners in each of the cities visited, and our co-participating Sri Lankan industry partners reporting highly productive meetings that will result in increased business and travel to Sri Lanka from the region,” Perera added.
On a side note, SriLankan Airlines is also is looking forward to further expanding in the Middle East over the coming period.
To this end, the state-owned carrier has participated in the 25th edition of Arabian Travel Market (ATM) which takes place in Dubai from 22-25 April.
At the ATM, SriLankan Airlines will try to attract a large number of business travelers and tourists, especially from the Middle East.
“We regard Arabian Travel Market as an important stage to reach the travel industry professionals in the Middle East, which is one of our most important source destinations,” SriLankan Airlines’ general manager for marketing Saminda Perera stated.
In the meantime, there are 70 direct flights per week that connect the UAE to Sri Lanka.
SriLankan Airlines has recently raised its flight number to 68 on a week to Colombo from Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Doha, Muscat, Riyadh, Bahrain, and Kuwait.
