Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: UAE-based Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) has completed 87% of the 5,600 megawatts (MWs) Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant on the back of finishing Unit 4 dome, marking the finalisation of the majority of the plant’s construction work.
The Emirati developer has also completed the pipe welding works and the instalment of main equipment in Unit 4 reactor coolant loop, according to a company statement.
“The significant progress being made in both the construction of Unit 4” and the “overall completion of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant,” ENEC’s CEO Mohamed Al Hammadi said.
About 67% of Unit 4 construction was completed, Al Hammadi added.
In the next phase, the fourth unit will be tested in preparation for operation.
Unit 1 of Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant in Al Dhafrah was finished, while Unit 2, 3 were completed by 92% and 81%, respectively.
