UAE C. bank’s foreign assets grow 5% in March

UAE – Mubasher: The Central Bank of the UAE’s (CBUAE) foreign-currency assets increased by 5.01% month-on-month, or AED 18 billion ($4.89 billion), in March, according to the CBUAE’s data.

Total foreign-currency assets recorded AED 377 billion ($102.62 billion) by the end of March, compared to AED 359 billion ($97.72 billion) in February, the central bank said on Wednesday.

On a yearly basis, foreign assets of the central bank levelled up 12% to AED 336 billion in March.

The central bank’s balance and deposits abroad jumped to AED 307.56 billion in March, from AED 271.2 billion in the same period of the prior year, data showed.

Other foreign assets surged 43% to AED 14.25 billion in the month before, compared to AED 9.94 billion in March 2018.
