UAE Islamic banks assets grow in 9M

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The eight UAE Islamic banks posted a 7.8% growth in its assets to AED 500.2 billion in the first nine months of 2016, compared to AED 464.2 billion in by the end of December 2015.

Conventional banks saw a 1.8% rise in its assets to AED 2.05 trillion in the same nine- month period of 2016, compared to AED 2.014 trillion as at 31 December 2015, according to the Central Bank of UAE.

Islamic banks saw an increase in their deposits to reach AED 343.1 billion in the first nine months of 2016.

Deposits at conventional banks went up 2.6% to AED 1.17 billion during the same nine-month period of 2016, compared to figures recorded by the end of September 2016.
