UAE advances, Saudi falls in WTO top 30 exporters list

Riyadh – Mubasher: The UAE advanced to the 19th position in the top 30 exporters list, while Saudi Arabia fell 5 places to rank 27th, A new report released by World Trade Organisation (WTO) showed. The global trade performance report revealed that the UAE’s exports outperformed Saudi ones by $91 billion in 2016, compared to $63 billion in 2015.

Last year, the UAE’s exports reached around $266 billion, while the kingdom’s exports recorded $175 billion. 

Saudi Arabia's ranking declined 5 places to 27th from 22nd, as Saudi exports fell by 14% year-on-year in 2016.

Meanwhile, the UAE’s exports declined 2% year-on-year in 2016. Still, its ranking rose in 2016 to 19th from 18th.

The WTO’s report expected global trade to increase by 1.8% to 3.6% during 2017, amid concerns about international political and economic relationships in the near future.
