UAE aims to raise FDI contribution to GDP

Abu Dhabi-Mubasher: The UAE targets to increase foreign direct investment’s (FDI) contribution to 5% of the country’s GDP over the next five years, said the UAE’s Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansoori, Minister of Economy.

New and renewable energy sectors are likely to attract foreign capital to the UAE in the coming period due to the giant projects implemented by the UAE government, mainly in renewable energy and retail, news agency WAM reported.

Accumulated foreign investments in the UAE grew to $126 billion by the end of 2015 from $115 billion at the end of 2014, backed mainly by increased investments in manufacturing and heavy industries, as well as other sectors like tourism and aviation.
