UAE airports receives 88m passengers in 8M

Dubai – Mubasher: UAE airports reported a 5.7% increase in traffic during the first eight months of 2017, according to the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).

GCAA’s data showed that the passenger numbers rose to 87.6 million as compared to 82.8 million passengers in the year-ago period.

In August, the passenger numbers grew 1.7% to 12 million passengers versus 11.8 million in the previous month.

Dubai International Airport saw more than 62.8 million passengers in the eight-month period, acquiring 72% of the total number of passengers through UAE airports.

The Abu Dhabi International Airport came second, with 17 million passengers received, followed by Sharjah International Airport, with 6.7 million passengers, and Al Maktoum International Airport with 633,100 passengers.

UAE total air traffic dropped 2.3% to 597,100 flights in the first eight months of 2017 versus 611,300 flights in the same period of 2016.
