UAE announces new FDI law

Abu Dhabi - Mubasher: The President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has issued a new law on foreign direct investment (FDI).

The law aims at promoting and developing the investment environment across the country, in order to attract more foreign investments.

A new Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) unit will be established in the Ministry of Economy, in order to propose policies and measurements encouraging investments.

The unit will also be responsible for establishing a comprehensive database for UAE investments, including data on existing FDI projects, and will review and update information on a periodical basis, as reported by Emirates News Agency (WAM).

Other authorities will cooperate and provide the new unit with data on approved investment projects.
