UAE bank assets hit AED 2.7tn in February

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: Assets of banks operating in the UAE, including banker’s acceptances, increased by 0.7% during February 2018, registering AED 2.707 trillion, compared to AED 2.688 trillion a month earlier, according to a report released by the Central Bank of UAE (CBUAE) on Wednesday.

In February 2018, the central bank’s total deposits dropped AED 1.4 billion on the back of an AED 3.3 billion decline in non-resident deposits, the CBUAE stated. 

The money supply aggregate M1 grew 2.3% to AED 509.7 billion by the end of the second month of the year, up from AED 498 billion in the month before,  the bank’s report showed.

Similarly, M2 and M3 aggregates went up 0.6% to AED 1.284 trillion and 0.4% to AED 1.486 trillion, respectively, at the end of the previous month. 

The monetary deposits also increased by AED 10 billion, which boosted M1 supply, the central bank revealed.
