UAE bank investments up 8.5% in May

Dubai - Mubasher: The total value of banking investments in the UAE grew by 8.5% or AED 23.2 billion in May 2017.

The monthly bulletin for banking indices in the United Arab Emirates, published on Tuesday, showed that net investments increased to AED 297.5 billion with an 8.5% year-on-year rise.

The Central Bank of the UAE said that total banking investments rose by AED 700 million last month, increasing by 0.2% compared to its level in April, while growth in the first five months of the year recorded 3% with a value of AED 8.8 billion.

The investments of Emirati banks were distributed at AED 190.3 billion in securities, AED 12.3 billion for stocks, and AED 64.6 billion for bonds, with the remaining amount going for other forms.
