UAE banks’ assets rise to AED 41bn in H1

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: Assets owned by UAE banks have increased 5.4% year-on-year or by around AED 40.7 billion ($10.88 billion) in the first six months of 2017, the Central Bank of the UAE said in a statement on Tuesday.

UAE-based banks assets rose to AED 2.6543 trillion ($731.12 billion) in H1-17 from AED 2.5185 trillion ($711.41 billion) in the year-ago period, the statement showed.

On another note, deposits held by banks across the country increased in June 2017 by 6.4% to AED 1.589 trillion from AED 1.493 trillion in June 2016.

Loans also grew 3.11% in June to AED 1.591 trillion from AED 1.543 trillion in the same period of 2016, the central bank revealed.
